Every tamariki is a taonga.

The kaupapa of Te Tirahou is to nurture and inspire the tamariki placed into our care as they begin their educational journey.

We offer an exciting pre-school experience based on a bilingual programme of play, discovery, learning and adventure.

We have proven success in preparing tamariki for school. We give them knowledge and life skills. We help them build strong relationships and self-esteem.

Te Tirahou follows the Early Childhood Education CE sector's official curriculum, Te Whāriki, which includes Whakamana (Empowerment), Kotahitanga (Holistic development), Whānau Tangata (Family and community) and Ngā Hononga (Relationships).

Play and learning are led by the tamariki, who are free to choose activities that match their talents and interests, supported by our fully-trained and friendly staff.

Whānau are encouraged to be actively involved with their tamariki at Te Tirahou.

Kai - all enrolled tamariki receive free, nutritious lunch and morning and afternoon tea professionally prepared by our onsite catering business, Alfalfa.

Fees - All 3-4-year-olds are entitled to 20 free hours per week. Some other fee subsidies may be available.

Transport - Free pick-ups and drop-offs are available

GP visits - all enrolled tamariki are entitled to free GP care at the TToH medical and dental centre, Hauora Heretaunga. Whānau may enrol there if they do not already have a GP.
