World Smokefree Day 2013

'Quit Now. It's about whānau' is about taking control and doing something now. Whānau is relevant for all cultures as family tends to play a core role in everyone's lives, especially as a driving force for people wishing to quit.

Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga, Aukati Kaipaipa, Te Kupenga Hauora o Ahuriri and EIT Health Promotion students hosted an interesting, informative and interactive promotion at EIT Taradale in recognition of World Smokefree Day 2013 (WSFD)

This year's promotion had a major focus on our rangatahi (youth) but ensured that  services are still available to all who would like support to give up smoking.

On the day we had a 5 stationed obstacle course that reflected the effects of smoking. Winners of the obstacle race went in the draw to win a grocery hamper. William was the lucky prize winner!!

There were information boards on display, illustrating the comparisons fo the cost to buy "kai or tobacco".
