Kahungunu Kaumātua Ball 2023

When Cyclone Gabrielle hit Kahungunu, Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga with its 400 strong army of foot soldiers picked up shovels, packed  kai and welfare packs, fielded Welfare calls, collected and distributed koha offering awhi, tautoko and manaaki to kura, marae, whānau and each other.

Once the state of emergency was lifted, they went into recovery mode preparing for the 2023 Kahungunu Kaumātua ball. A day where nga taonga pounamu o Ngati Kahungunu were  celebrated, spoiled and uplifted.
