On Thursday 4 March, Waingākau & TToH were proud to koha native plants to Te Kura o Kimi Ora and also to Te Aranga Marae.  These plants were kindly gifted by Dragonfly Native Plant Nursery to the National Māori Housing Conference and under the whakaaro of reciprocity, these have been  subsequently gifted forward to help continue the growth of the wider Waingākau area.

The next morning, James Lyver (Waingākau Project Manager) & Rikki Te Kira (Waingākau Whānau Manaaki) were welcomed at the schools morning karakia and thanked by the students of Kimi Ora with beautiful waiata.  James recited the whakataukī of Waingākau and explained how important good relationships are to nurturing a loving community - “Tangata ako ana i te kāinga. Te tūranga ki te marae, tau ana.  A person nurtured in the community contributes strongly to society”, says James.

Waingākau is a visionary housing development in West Flaxmere.  The goal is to make the dream of owning a high-quality home a reality.  Waingākau is a mixed tenure development of 82 Conventional Houses and Co-Housing Villages - all using modern designs and quality materials.
