Wellbeing - Oranga Hinengaro

If you know someone who is unwell and would like some help, phone 0800
TAIWHENUA and ask for our registration centre, Te Wairatahi.
If the situation is serious, please phone 111.

We all want to be healthy and happy, but sometimes life gets in the way and we need a bit of support. That’s why we have teams of qualified professional staff who work holistically with whānau, to help them work toward wellbeing.

This involves the mind (oranga hinengaro), tinana (body), wairua (spirit) and whānau (social) aspects of our lives.

We also use traditional, kaupapa Māori values and culture in the wellbeing plans we create for each person.

A wellbeing plan can include any of the following:

  • Clinical care
  • Te Puawaitanga Day programme
  • Community support
  • Addiction therapies
  • Behaviour therapies
  • Counselling
  • Residential care
  • Waiorua – short-stay time out, to rest and re-focus
  • Longer-term residential

Whānau can also get care and support from other teams at TToH, to help them deal with issues that might be holding them back in achieving their wellbeing.

Struggling with Addiction?

Te Poutama Tautoko is a team that specialises in drug or alcohol addiction therapies for ages 17-plus. It’s free, confidential, and available in Napier, Hastings and Central Hawke’s Bay.
