Wellbeing of the mind - Oranga Hinengaro
If you know someone who is unwell and would like some help, phone 0800
TAIWHENUA and ask for our registration centre, Te Wairatahi.
If the situation is serious, please phone 111.
We all want to be healthy and happy, but sometimes life gets in the way and we need a bit of support. That’s why we have teams of qualified professional staff who work holistically with whānau, to help them work toward wellbeing.
This involves the mind (oranga hinengaro), tinana (body), wairua (spirit) and whānau (social) aspects of our lives.
We also use traditional, kaupapa Māori values and culture in the wellbeing plans we create for each person.
A wellbeing plan can include any of the following:
- Clinical care
- Te Puawaitanga Day programme
- Community support
- Addiction therapies
- Behaviour therapies
- Counselling
- Residential care
- Waiorua – short-stay time out, to rest and re-focus
- Longer-term residential
Whānau can also get care and support from other teams at TToH, to help them deal with issues that might be holding them back in achieving their wellbeing.
Hiwa-i-te-rangi
Hiwa-i-te-rangi is the potiki in the Matariki star cluster and holds a lot of mana as this star holds people’s aspirations, dreams and heart desires.
Hiwa-i-te-rangi encourages us to hold firm to our goals, and seek out opportunities to see them realised.
We understand that at times, some people simply wish for a better state of mind, a positive outlook on life and clarity to look ahead towards a bright future.
Our qualified Hiwa-i-te-rangi team are here for whānau and individuals that may need extra support to work through one or two small humps in life that have become overwhelming and may seem too difficult to deal with right now on their own.
Our professional team are available to help tangata whaiora (people seeking health) to work through issues that may be affecting their oranga hinengaro (mental well-being), home, whānau, or work life.
If you or someone in your whānau could do with a hand-up to help make daily life a little easier to manage, please get in touch with us.
