Every three years Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga hosts the inaugural Matariki Living Taonga Awards, calling on the community of Ngati Kahungunu to nominate people who are leading by example through their work and activities.
Below is the video production of the 2018 award ceremony with many kaumātua from the community being presented with awards. Planning is shortly underway for the 2021 award ceremony.

Kaumātua Ora is a programme designed specifically for our seniors. Fortnightly hui include health checks, gentle exercise, outings and social events.
Kaumātua enrolled in our Kaumātua Ora programme have an opportunity to participate in the Stanford Live Well programme. This is a six-week course that enables each participant to set themselves a goal and gain the skills to live with a long-term health condition.

We all want to be healthy and happy, but sometimes life gets in the way and we need a bit of support .
We have teams of qualified professional staff who work holistically with whānau, to help them work toward wellbeing.
